Valentines Day Craft
HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS CRAFT:
SALT DOUGH MIXTURE
ROLLING PIN
HEART SHAPED COOKIE CUTTER
TOOTHPICK
RIBBON BAKING SHEET
PAINT AND PAINT BRUSHES
TO MAKE THE SALT DOUGH MIXTURE (WHICH IS NOT EDIBLE) YOU WILL NEED:
3/4 CUP ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
3 TABLESPOONS SALT
1 TEASPOON COOKING OIL
1/3 CUP WATER
MIXING BOWL
BOARD
USING YOUR FINGERS MIX TOGETHER THE FLOUR, SALT AND COOKING OIL IN A BOWL. ADD A LITTLE WATER AND MIX IT IN THOROUGHLY UNTIL YOU HAVE A SMOOTH, THICK DOUGH DRY ENOUGH NOT TO STICK TO THE SIDES OF THE BOWL. IF YOUR MIXTURE IS TOO STICKY SIMPLY ADD MORE FLOUR AND IF ITS TOO CRUMBLY ADD WATER. SPRINKLE A LITTLE FLOUR OVER THE BOARD AND KNEAD THE DOUGH UNTIL IT'S A SMOOTH LUMP. YOU CAN STORE DOUGH IN A SEALED CONTAINER IN THE REFRIGERATOR FOR UP TO 3 DAYS. MOLD YOUR HEART DESIGN USING COOKIE CUTTER AND BAKE IN PREHEATED OVEN AT 250 DEGREES FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS UNTIL FIRM. BE SURE TO POKE HOLE WITH TOOTHPICK IF YOU WANT A HANGING HEART. BAKING TIMES WILL VARY DEPENDING ON THE SIZE AND THICKNESS OF YOUR HEARTS, BUT MAKE SURE IT'S HARD ALL THROUGH.
MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER LIKED PAINTING AND DECORATING HEARTS WITH GLITTER WHILE MY 7 YEAR OLD SON ENJOYED PLAYING WITH THE SALT DOUGH MIXTURE.
YOU CAN STRING A RIBBON THROUGH THE HOLE THAT YOU WILL MAKE WITH A TOOTHPICK IF YOU WANT A HANGING HEART OR YOU CAN HOT GLUE GUN A MAGNET ON THE BACK OR USE AS A PAPER WEIGHT.
A GREAT GIFT FOR TEACHERS, GRANDPARENTS, NEIGHBORS, ETC!!
