Since my daughter enjoys riding her bike I came up with an idea on incorporating number recognition and gross motor skills!
Initially, I was going to use bean bags to toss onto the numbers, which would have worked great but as I was preparing the activity my daughter was zooming around on her bike which made me think of using her bike instead.
As I called out a number my daughter would pedal to it. Without planning on it she also got alot better at using her bike breaks!!
We learned numbers, used our gross motor skills and got a ton of exercise going up and down and all around our driveway!
If you would like to try this activity keep in mind that you can gear it towards whatever it is your child is currently learning. It could be things like shapes, letters, colors, sight words, etc..
Here are some of our other posts on ideas for learning numbers:
Helicopter Number Hide n' Seek
Learn double digits re-using play doh containers
Egg match up
Jump to the number
I love this idea! So easy and fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Totschooling!

DeleteI like this idea. We don't have enough space to do it sadly.
ReplyDeleteAngela, you could set something like this up at a quiet tennis court. Bring along some chalk and a bike and your good to go!
DeleteThis looks so much fun (and what a cute bike too)! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at #Pintorials
Thanks!
DeleteThis looks great! I love it when you can combine two skills into one activity and it's still fun! My daughter is just starting to ride a tricycle, so we aren't quite ready for this activity, but I'll pin it for later.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tiffiny!
DeleteWhat a great idea! I think my daughter would really enjoy this! And we could do it with letters for my youngest - excellent!
ReplyDeleteYes letters too! I even did it with my 8 year old except I called out multiplication problems and he had to find the correct answer! He used is scooter instead of his bike!
